Bush Guardians

The Bush Guardians Program is in its third year of a four year initiative to assist community groups to manage and undertake on ground works for the protection of threatened flora and fauna and natural vegetation communities on specified public land allotments located across Victoria.

Caring for Our Country Bushfire Recovery Program - Grants for fire affected areas now available

The North East Catchment Management Authority will manage the grants program in Victoria’s North East region and will target natural resource management activities in areas directly impacted by the bushfires.

We will coordinate a range of activities including: strategic control and containment of new and emerging or high risk environmental weed infestations; activities that support affected nationally threatened and endangered species; fencing of river reaches, riparian areas and wetlands to protect important remnant vegetation areas and water quality; and identifying and protecting exposed Indigenous sites.

Land for Wildlife

Voluntary Support and Advice Scheme which aims to encourage and assist private landholders to provide habitats for wildlife on their property.

Landmate Program

Landmate crews are small groups of prisoners, undertake the supervision of an experienced Industry Officer, who undertake environmental realted works on private and public land coordinated by Department of Sustainability and Environment(DSE) in the Beechworth and surrounding districts.

Rural City of Wangaratta Land Protection Incentive Scheme

Landowners who have a conservation covenant registered on title are eligible for funding based on the area of land covenanted. Where an area is larger than 20 hectares, a payment of $5.00 per hectare applies up to a maximim of $1000 per landholder.

Second Generation Landcare Grants

Second Generation Landcare Grants

The Second Generation Landcare Grants are provided to North East Landcare and related groups to enable annual projects for on ground works, community education and engagement. Groups will have received a notice of funding allocation for this year. Below are electronic forms for use by groups if required.

Trust for Nature - Bush Improvement Grants

Available to landholders with a conservation covenant or are considering a covenant for their land. Assistance available for:
• Fencing materials and labour
• Weed and Vermin Control
• Restoration of bushland areas
• Property management planning
• Grazing management
• Environmental improvement works

Trust For Nature - Conservation Covenants

A conservation covenant is an agreement between a landowner and Trust for Nature, which protects and enhances the natural, cultural and or scientific values of the land. Funding can include full cost reimbursement fo fencing conservation covenants and a stewardship program.

Wild Dog Fencing

Funds may be available to subsidise wild dog exclusion fencing. The Landholder is responsible for the maintenance of the fence once established.
