Caring for our Country Bushfire Recovery Program - Assistance available for fire affected landholders

The Rudd Government’s Caring for our Country Victorian Bushfire Recovery Program will provide over $10 million to assist community, local government, non-government organisations and landholders to undertake natural resource management activities.

The North East Catchment Management Authority will manage the assistance program in Victoria’s North East region and will target natural resource management activities in areas directly impacted by the bushfires.

We will coordinate a range of activities including:

  • Strategic control and containment of new and emerging or high risk environmental weed infestations.
  • Activities that support affected nationally threatened and endangered species.
  • Fencing of gullies and riparian areas to address erosion, improve water quality and to protect important remnant vegetation.
  • Identifying and protecting exposed Indigenous sites.
  • Provision of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and property management planning services.

We will be making direct contact with affected communities, but you may also wish to Contact Us to register your interest.
