The North East CMA recognises that working in partnership with communities is essential to achieve good natural resource management outcomes for our region.
The North East Regional Catchment Strategy (RCS) is one of the key resourcs that we have developed in partnership with North East communities. In order to achieve the shared goals set out in this Strategy, the North East CMA works to facilitate having a wide range of people with shared interests working together.
The Regional Catchment Strategy can be downloaded from the Strategies & Plans page, or you can request a copy be posted to you using the form on the Contact Us page.
Community Liaison Reference Group
The Community Liaison Reference Group provides advice to the CMA about how best to tailor engagement and consultation activities to individual communities in the North East region. It is envisaged that this approach will ensure engagement and consultation activities are:
- tailored to individual communities
- meaningful to community participants, and
- capture local knowledge and ideas from a broad cross-section of community members.

Catchment Community Forums are held around the region on a regular basis. The main purpose of these forums is to brief local community members on progress with the Regional Catchment Strategy and to facilitate community input into the implementation and renewal of the Strategy.
Community Reference Groups
Community Reference Groups are established for an agreed period of time with a clearly defined task. For example, to provide input into the implementation of local projects, or to provide local input into the development of a regional action plan. We also establish Community Reference Groups for key programs such as Landcare Support.
