Events & Latest Results

Events: We aim to involve our community in Waterwatch through public information displays and activities, and events like National Water Week, local festivals and field days.

National Water Week 2012

One of our main events for the year is National Water Week (NWW) which is run between the 21st - 27th of October 2012. NWW is designed to assist our community to take actions that help protect and conserve our most precious resource - water. Anyone can get involved in National Water Week, with activities and events happening within the North East region. The North East CMA and North East Water have worked with other organisations in the north east region and in NSW to develop a Calendar of Events outlining the FREE activities and competitions taking place in our region.

The highlight of this year will be the Water Awards night to acknowledge those people within the community that are making a difference to river health and water conservation.  This event will help raise awareness and celebrate many water related achievements within our schools and broader community.

The Australian Water Association (AWA) also have a comprehensive website of resources and activities taking place throughout the country over National Water Week . This website is your portal to a national schedule of programs and events that encourage protection, rehabilitation and improvement of water environments such as streams, wetlands, waterways, beaches, and estuaries.

Ovens and King River's Snapshots: Waterwatch staff undertook a 'snapshot' of the Ovens River in January and the King River in February to gain an insight into the water quality of each river within a day.  A snapshot involves testing the water of a river at a number of sites in the one day from upstream to downstream to gain a picture of health for that day.
