WATERWATCH WATER QUALITY MONITORING
We encourage and support school groups to become actively involved in monitoring the health of our local waterways. Schools are invited to participate in a water quality monitoring program where they will be involved in developing a monitoring plan with Waterwatch staff. Once a school has committed to monitoring a nearby waterway they will be provided with a water quality monitoring kit and will be required to monitor the waterway on a monthly basis. Waterwatch staff can provide participating schools and teachers with the necessary training and skills to teach students to use the equipment and record the water quality data. Each month the school will enter their results into the online record sheet or as a hard copy and send them through to the Waterwatch team. At the end of the year participating schools will receive an annual data interpretation report of their waterway site. Monitoring plans are designed to be flexible and fit in with each individual school, and Waterwatch staff are available throughout the year to provide extra support when required.
Waterwatch will assist you in the delivery of these acitvities and provide all the background information, such as the Schools Method Manual to guide you through these acitvities.

RUN OF THE RIVER
The Run of the River board game is a fantastic new curriculum tool aimed at Year 7 to Year 12 students and features two playing levels of increasing complexity. The game explores the complexities of maintaining healthy and sustainable river systems in order for water to be enjoyed for a variety of uses. It introduces students to key concepts about how natural river flows change seasonally and between years and how these flows affect the whole ecosystem.
If your school has not already received the game, a FREE copy is available from your local Waterwatch Coordinator upon request. For more information please refer to the Victorian Waterwatch Website.
