pH Mapping - monitoring soil acidity for production and profit (Cropping)

Boorhaman, 27th August

Come along to a pH Mapping – monitoring soil acidity for production and profit field day at the Boorhaman Hall on Wednesday 27th of August to hear about a new approach to monitoring soil pH across your property being showcased by Andrew Whitlock from Precision Agriculture Australia and discussions lead by Sue Briggs from Vic DEPI.

Soil acidity can have a major impact on agricultural productivity and sustainability of farming systems in the North East. Cost effective management of soil acidity requires monitoring, soil testing and the application of lime.

This day will involve:

· demonstration of the new mobile mapping technology

· discussion on pros and cons and suitability of the tool for use on your farm

· comparing current lime programs for Corey Ubergangs local cropping property with potential alternative programs developed from the new map

· investigating impacts of soil acidity on productivity and variations in lime quality and how that might affect your liming program

Cost of the day is FREE and lunch will be provided!

RSVP: closing 21st August to Dale Stringer at NECMA dale.stringer@necma.vic.gov.au
