Victoria's CMAs awarded as finalists in National Banksia Awards

Vic Catchments, the peak body for Victoria’s ten Catchment Management Authorities (including North East CMA), has been announced as a finalist in the 35th National Banksia Sustainability Awards in the Nature Positive category.

Award finalists showcase new frontiers in sustainability. Revealing the short list, Banksia Foundation CEO Graz van Egmond praised finalists for their commitment to sustainability and social impact, and for the wide range of entries.

“Across the categories this year, we have seen an incredible diversity of entries and finalists, from sole traders to large enterprises, all thinking and working creatively and effectively to combat climate change and inequity.”

2024 Victorian Landcare Grants now open

The Victorian Government is helping volunteer groups and networks protect and restore our precious environment.

Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos has announced the opening of the 2024 Victorian Landcare Grants, with $3.55 million available to support volunteers in caring for the state’s landscapes and biodiversity. Applications will close on 30 April 2024.

Flood works underway on five more high priority cases

The North East CMA is in the process of undertaking flood recovery works on a further five high priority cases in the North East catchment.

The funding for these works comes from the Victorian and Australian Governments as part of the State’s recovery from flooding in October 2022.

The five cases were selected following an assessment process that takes into account any risks, including the threat to public infrastructure and river health if no action is undertaken.
