What is Healthy, Productive Soil? Gundowring

Learn how to enhance your pastures and achieve environmental benefits through better water and nutrient management, reducing the risks of surface runoff, erosion, and drainage issues. Cassie will share her extensive knowledge to help you overcome these obstacles and achieve a thriving soil environment.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Dr Cassandra Schefe, AgriSci Pty Ltd, is a soil scientist with over 25 years’ experience in identifying and addressing soil constraints in agriculture, with expertise and experience spanning from synchrotrons to soil pits. Cassie holds an Adjunct position with Charles Sturt University, and is accredited as both a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) by Soil Science Australia, and a FertCare accredited advisor. In 2019 Cassie was awarded the Recognising and Rewarding Excellence Award from the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC), Southern Region.

Cassie spends a lot of time in pits with groups of farmers across SA, Vic and NSW, working through the basics of soils, and identifying the key limiting factors that constrain plant growth. Her expertise across the industry means that she understands both the fundamental science, and broad issues coming through from government and multinational supply chains.
