Ecological thinning - improving tree density for habitat

Friday 22 April - 9am to 1pm

Indigo Valley

Contact Nicki Munro at nickim@tfn.org.au to register

A field day discussing the ecology, logistics and legislation behind ecological thinning programs, with a demonstration of traditional hand thinning, as well as a mulching machine.

Sometimes after disturbances, native trees (Eucalypts and wattles) can grow back too thickly, preventing understorey recovery.  The ecosystem can sit in this state for many decades, with low plant richness, and low habitat diversity.

This field day will be located in the Indigo Valley and is hosted by Trust for Nature under a program called ‘Bush for Birds’.

Attendance is free, including lunch, but vaccination is required.
