Protecting Seasonally Herbaceous Wetlands
Technical advice and financial incentives are available now for the protection and enhancement of Seasonally Herbaceous Wetlands.
Seasonally Herbaceous Wetlands are generally temporary freshwater wetlands that are inundated on a seasonal basis, typically filling after winter-spring rains, and then drying out. These wetlands are filled by rainwater and are not dependent on riverine systems. The vegetation is generally treeless and dominated by a herbaceous ground layer.
Incentives are available for landholders located in the North East catchment (key funding areas). Activities funded include fencing of wetlands, planting of native understory plants and weed and pest animal control works.
