The Community NRM Support Plan 2024-2030 describes how the North East Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will support community natural resource management (NRM) groups and networks in the catchment.
The region is fortunate to have a wide range of community groups, including Landcare, Friends of, Blackberry Action, Sustainable Agriculture, Environment, agricultural industry and fishing groups and networks operating in the region. These are described under a broad category of community NRM.
Community NRM groups and networks are vital contributors to achieving diverse, healthy landscapes and vibrant communities. They bring together local communities, land managers, government and businesses to protect and enhance biodiversity, waterways, land health and community resilience.
The North East CMA is dedicated to engaging with and supporting the community through local groups and networks. Through this plan, we aim to empower community NRM to implement community-led, practical, and local actions for positive environmental outcomes.
The North East CMA has listened to the communities’ priorities in the development of this plan and it will be reviewed annually to identify annual priorities and implementation activities. The extent to which the CMA can deliver the actions identified in this plan is dependent on the resources available.
