Have Your Say on the Renewal of the North East Waterway Strategy

Have Your Say on the Renewal of the North East Waterway Strategy

An Insights Paper, developed by consultancy RMCG, has been prepared to help inform the renewal of the North East Waterway Strategy. This paper brings together key information about our waterways, including:

  • Background and current condition

  • Changes over the past 10 years

  • Values, threats, and opportunities

How was the Insights Paper developed?
The paper draws on a desktop review of technical information, major regional events, and policy changes, as well as data summarising achievements since the 2014 Strategy. It incorporates input from North East CMA staff, Board members, partner workshops, and extensive community engagement.

Community engagement included pop-up sessions at nine locations across the region, workshops with groups and agencies, and an online form for those unable to attend. Representatives from 23 organisations participated in focus groups, and further engagement with Traditional Owners continues alongside this process.

You can access the full Insights Paper here.

The information collected via the online forms has been summarised in a separate document, which you can access here → Community Insights Online Form - Summary Table.docx.

Now we want your feedback!
The Insights Paper has been consolidated and is ready for community consultation. From Friday 12 December to 12 February, you can review the paper and share your thoughts.

We’re not asking for feedback on grammar or formatting. Instead, we want to know if the document reflects your values and concerns. If it doesn’t, please share your thoughts - your input will help shape the renewal of the North East Waterway Strategy

If you’re unable to use the form, please email Deborah Furst at deborah.furst@necma.vic.gov.au to arrange a face-to-face meeting, Teams/Zoom call, or phone conversation.
