North East Catchment Management Authority is proud during this #NAIDOCWeek2026 to support the release of this video detailing the Barwidgee Creek Connections Project. The project supports Bangerang Aboriginal Corporation's Ngalan Bitja Ranger Team to undertake caring for Country works along this important waterway, including woody weed control.
Willow, False Acacia, Broad-leaved Privet, Box Elder, Poplar, Bamboo and Blackberry have been targeted for removal to promote the re-establishment of native plants like River Red Gum, Blackwood, Silver Wattle and Tree Violet.
It's terrific to hear from these young rangers about these works that will improve the health of the creek for species like the Platypus, Rakali and Macquarie Perch.
This project is proudly supported by the North East Catchment Management Authority through the Upper Ovens Flagship Project, funded by the #VictorianGovernment through the EC6 Environmental Contribution.
