In Victoria, a permit is required to remove, destroy or lop native vegetation.

Native vegetation is defined in the Victorian Planning Provisions as “plants that are indigenous to Victoria, including trees, shrubs, herbs and grasses”.

Landholders wishing to remove native vegetation need to apply for a planning permit from their local council

Refer to the Victorian Government's Native Vegetation page for details on permits and requirements.
