February 8, 2018
Thursday, 8 February 2018
As part of the North East Catchment Management Authority’s roll out of works to address damage from the 2016 flood events, we will shortly be carrying out river stabilisation works on the Ovens River, upstream of Howards Bridge on the Great Alpine Road, Harrietville. These works will involve the placement of approximately 120 tonnes of granite rock on the left bank of the river in order to offer additional protection to the abutment of the bridge. In order to deliver these works, there will be some disruption to traffic in this area. This will include reduced traffic speeds and the temporary closure of one lane due to plant movements and delivery of materials between the hours of 6am-6pm. The works are expected to take 4-5 days, and will occur between February 21 & March 7. We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank the community for their assistance with the delivery of these important works to protect critical public infrastructure. For any enquiries please call the North East CMA on 1300 216 513.
