The Golden Sun Moth is North East Victoria’s rarest invertebrate
Golden sun moths are small dark coloured moths that fly during the day, like a butterfly. They are only found in native grasslands and fly between November and January. They were discovered at Carboor in 2009, then Wangaratta in 2021.
Come along and learn about NE Victoria’s special invertebrate, how to see them, monitor them, and how to manage their grassland homes!
How can you help? We’d love local people to keep an eye out for this rare moth in the north-east. At our information evening we will discuss the use of tools such as iNaturalist and VBAGo for uploading species records to government databases. We will also have a quick peek at ID tools and apps.
This event is brought to you by Trust for Nature and Milawa-Markwood-Oxley Landcare.
