Doing our bit for Clean Up Australia Day

The North East CMA team was proud to join forces with Wodonga TAFE for a hands‑on Clean Up Australia Day activity along House Creek.

Following the recent heavy rain events, a surprising amount of debris and litter had built up, becoming caught in overhanging branches and vegetation along the creek line. As we made our way along the banks, it quickly became clear just how much waste, particularly plastics, would have been carried downstream into Wodonga Creek and eventually the Murray River if left behind.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and teamwork of everyone involved, we removed a significant volume of rubbish, helping to protect local waterways, wildlife habitat, and the broader catchment.

A huge thank you to all Wodonga TAFE and North East CMA staff who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. Your efforts show how powerful community action can be when we work together toward a healthier environment.
