Photo Story Competition - My Favourite North East Waterway
North East CMA is running a competition asking the public to nominate their favourite North East waterway as part of the renewal of the North East Regional Waterway Strategy.
Portray through an original photo, your connection to the environment of the region. Celebrate the North East’s amazing natural environment through your image and story explaining why the place is special for you. Is this a site you visit often, has personal or family connection or you just want people to know about?
We will select up to six of the best images and short stories to receive a prize voucher to a local nursery or agricultural shop.
Entries close 31 July 2026 and should be sent to info@necma.vic.gov.au including:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Whether you are under 18
- 200 words or less detailing why this is your Favourite North East Waterway
Conditions of Entry:
People submitting photos must be aware of and acknowledge that they agree to the publishing and re-use of the image and story, via CMA publications, website and social media. We are often looking for, or asked for great photos of the region for reports, articles and other publications, so your photo may be used in any of these at any time.
Your story accompanying the photo is preferred to be 200 words or less.
Photos must be high resolution, at least 1mb file size, but no more than 5mb.
If the photos include people in the image, these people MUST be aware of this and agree to their image being used.
All photos submitted will be considered to be supplied under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial license, meaning that you permit the North East CMA and our partners to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
As long as you are acknowledged as the source. This does not allow commercial use of your image.

Judges' decisions will be final.
