Workshops - Embedding climate change in agriculture

Workshop 1: 18 March Grazing and cropping / Workshop 2: 19 March Horticulture and viticulture

Anna Roberts and Paul Blackshaw will facilitating the day. Topics include:

  • Confirm farming systems as the basis for current and predicted impact modelling
  • Present and refine specific climate (rainfall, temp, humidity etc) durations and thresholds that industry want represented in the spatial tool
  • Present first draft of spatial tool, seek feedback for refinement and confirm user testing interest
  • Set date for second industry workshops that work for participants and project team (ideally be between 8-18 April, i.e. pre-Easter)

A main purpose of this project is to undertake an assessment of future climate scenarios benchmarked against the current climatic data and understand what it might mean for dairy farmers in North East Victoria. The predictive nature of the developed tool will help us a community to sustain the business enterprises in the region through adaptation and planning ahead.
