Lucerne Update

Wednesday 23 July, DEPI Rutherglen

A full morning of information on Lucerne, featuring Professor Derek Moot, Lincoln University, New Zealand.

Convened by the DEPI, Grasslands Society of Southern Australia and the North East CMA.  Please RSVP: 21 July 2014,

Topics include: How Lucerne grows, grazing management, varieties, animal performance and fit in farming systems.

Speakers: Prof. Derrick Moot is unashamedly a champion of lucerne. Derrick is from Lincoln University, New Zealand and is an expert in managing lucerne in grazing systems. He makes no excuses for his passion for what he describes as the world's most important forage. Derrick speaks all around the world on lucerne and he will be in NE Victoria on the 23rd of July.

Prof. Kevin Smith from DEPI and the University of Melbourne and Allen Newman, Research  Manager, Heritage Seeds Pty Ltd will also provide an insight into lucerne from a south east Australia perspective. A new lucerne project will be discussed.

Time: 9.00 to 12.30 (finishing with lunch)
