River Guardians Day - Wangaratta

What an incredible day on the river at the end of March! River Guardians Day in Wangaratta saw a fantastic turnout, with around 300 people coming and going over the three-hour event to celebrate our waterways and take action.

🎣 The carp fishing competition was a huge success, with plenty of carp caught and submitted ahead of and during the event. The winning carp measured a whopping 69.5cm — an impressive catch!

A massive thank you to everyone who came along to fish, learn, connect and care for our rivers 💚

👏 Special shout outs to our supporters and contributors:

- Adventure Camping and Fishing and Boomerang Bags Wangaratta for generously donating prizes

-Swamps, Rivers and Rangers for running the Carp Fishing Competition

-Robbie Alexander for keeping the day flowing as MC, and Uncle Dozer Atkinson for the Welcome to Country

🌱 We also loved having displays and experts on hand from:

Victorian Fisheries Authority, North East Canoe Club, Ovens Landcare Network, Wangaratta Landcare and Sustainability, Glenwaters Native Fish, Turtles Albury Wodonga, La Trobe University, and the Arthur Rylah Institute.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day such a success! Together, we’re making a difference for our rivers.
