Public Notice - Temporary closure of 'Jack's Hole' picnic area & section of Cherry Walk

March 15, 2018

On Monday March 19, North East Catchment Management Authority will commence works at Jack's Hole picnic area to address major river bank instabilities resulting from the 2016 flood event. These works will include the placement of large 'armour' rock and hardwood logs pinned in place to protect against further erosion. It will be necessary to close a short section of the Cherry Walk, which will also be reconstructed at a safer distance from the river bank.
There will be significant movement of trucks and heavy machinery in this area. In order to ensure the public’s safety during operations all pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic will be detoured away from the river for a short distance.
In other areas (please note map), traffic management will be in place to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of these works.
We anticipate that these works will not be completed prior to Easter and as such all operations will cease with the detours removed for the Easter weekend public holiday. Following the Easter weekend we will re-instate the detour route and traffic management until the completion of works.
We thank you for your patience. For any further enquiries please contact North East CMA on 1300 216 513
